As we know, the School District of Philadelphia continues to face major funding challenges that leave schools having to make difficult decisions about what we can afford for our children's education. At SLA, we have been incredibly fortunate to be able to count on the support of our families to help close the gap between what we need and what we can afford. This year is no exception. We have set a goal of $50,000 for our yearly FUEL THE ROCKET campaign and we are counting on families to ensure that we reach our goal.
Our FUEL THE ROCKET campaign
goes directly to making sure that the program of an innovative, authentic,
inquiry-driven, technology rich education is able to continue. In the past,
your contributions fund our Independent Learning Project administration, has
paid for part or all of a teaching position, has funded our laptop program, and
has helped to ensure that our many programs like Digital Video and Engineering
have everything they need to support our students—and much, much more. We could
not be the school we are without your support.
This year, in the spirit of fun that powers SLA, we have created levels of giving that align to the various NASA missions, so whether you are able to orbit with the Mercury missions or blast off on an Orion mission to Mars, all of us at SLA—from the Home and School to the teachers and students and administration— thank you so much for your continued support of the school! Let’s FUEL THE ROCKET!
Yours truly,
Chris Lehmann and Aaron Gerwer
P.S. Below you will find a list of 75 companies that employ people in the Philadelphia area who participate in matching donations. If you, or someone you know works for one of these companies and you make a donation, you can make it count twice. SLA's Home and School Association is a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN - 61-1513400) and your contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
